One I missed

“Nondi…” - Nondi_

Released February 27, 2026 through Plant Mu.File under: electronic/experimental

On Nondi_’s second album, the follow up to Flood City Trax, she once again leans heavily into her influneces; Aphex Twin, Actress, DJ Rashad, Moodyman, footwork, 2-step and other chaotic sounds from IDM and sundry to create a varied palette of chaotic noises, staccato rhythms, fractured samples and broken beats. The result is an experimental soundscape of deconstructed industrial sounds and organic utterings, punctuated by by the statement “Without their leadership, the corporations are powerless” a quote from the Armored Core video game franchise.

Despite the opening track being a pleasant and jaunty track, the rest of the album swings between industrial noise, fast break beats and static, at times like a lull into a groove, at other like car alarms at 3am. Not exactly relaxing, but never boring.

On the Planet Mu page, Nondi_ says of Nondi… “I made this album to capture the sense of freedom I used to get from music when I was first discovering it all. It’s meant to be cute, fun, kinda weird and emotional — but most of all, it’s a presentation of some of the prettiest tracks I’ve made.”

From the Pitchfork review “the songs on Nondi… feel like electronic renderings of the vacuous promise of connection in digital society.”

For listeners who like Oval, Aphex Twin, Jlin, Speaker Music, µ-Ziq, Amon Tobin, Autechre, Oneohtrix Point Never and Squarepusher.
