One I missed
“Sidings” - Craven Faults
Released January 23, 2026 through The Leaf.File under: electronic/ambient

“The devil’s in the details. It always was and it always will be. It’s there for those who seek it out.” Craven Faults’ Sidings Bandcamp page
Sidings is Craven Faults’ fifth full length album (including one live album), an 8 track wonder that spans over an hour, an hour that you will be glad you dedicated to this brilliant work. Little is known about the man behind Craven Faults, the enigmatic figure preferring anonymity in his public life, and even his web page is nothing but a “logo” rotating in front of a barren black and white photo of a hillside. If one views the source code of the page, we get a bit of a look into the intention or story behind his work:
“Half-remembered journeys across post-industrial Yorkshire. Erratics & Unconformities, Enclosures, Lowfold Works, Netherfield Works, Springhead Works, Nunroyd Works”
and that’s it…
Listening to Craven Faults is less of an activity and more of an experience; time and space seem to warp and meld, your mind wanders through landscapes unknown, in a meditative soundscape through the meandering long-form tracks on the album. The packaging for the release of Sidings I purchased (pictured above) includes a 12 page photo booklet, with amazing full page black and white photos of industrial Yorkshire, further embedding the idea of a journey.

The description on the Sidings Bandcamp page reads:
“We walk north east in search of a distance marker. When it first comes into view, it looks similar to where we commenced our journey on Bounds. The open moorland gives it away. This particular trip will take considerably longer, by foot and packhorse, before the land and power is redistributed by order of parliament.”
While once can listen to Sidings without the idea of a journey, the complete package includes flicking through the photographs while listening, and feeling the whole experience as one package. Enjoy the journey! (Photos via Bandcamp)
